Page 8 March 2, 2017 Purrrfect Companions Robinson Crusoe Violet Prairie Run to save homeless animals – Join “Team Kitten Rescue” in the 5K of the Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday, March 19 (a link to more info is available on the home page of our website…www.kittenrescue.org). Many teenage (six months to a year) and adult cats (one year or older) have been abandoned, neglected, abused or dumped at the shelter to find themselves in a terrifying, lonely new world. They have often withstood hunger, pain, illness and fear to overcome the odds and survive. They are supremely deserving--and appreciative--of a second chance at life. More often than not, these cats have been dumped because they were no longer  convenient  for their owners. Very seldom are these animals discarded due to personality problems or bad behavior. Give one of these wonderful kittens and cats a second chance for love. Robinson Crusoe (aka RC) is a gentle delicate soul. RC was a “ranch cat” when he accidentally boarded a produce truck and traveled to Burbank where he “jumped ship.” Finding the nearby pet store’s warehouse, RC thought that would be a great place to hang out until he could be rescued. RC is super sweet and loving, enjoying nothing more than to be pet and to roll over for belly rubs. A gentle boy, he gets along great with other cats and their presence helps him adjust more quickly to changes in his environment. Still a kitten, RC loves to play with string toys and crinkly ball toys, and he also loves to be held and to give hugs. Lucky Perez is a short-hair kitten with soft, golden eyes. He’s sweet, friendly, and curious. Perez loves to be around people and makes fast friends with laps--especially if you bring him any kind of feather. As affectionate as he is, his subtle leopard pattern will attest that Perez is a fast runner and high-jumping catrobat.  He loves to run and wrestle in the day, and play fetch with crumpled paper in the evening. Perez is perfecting his catnaps and cuddling skills. He loves nothing more than to stare into your eyes and fall asleep cradled wherever you happen to sit.  This is a smart boy who likes to contribute where he can. Got and then take her place as your favorite warm scarf--nuzzling into your neck and purring as she falls asleep. She is a very vocal little girl who will chatter happily with you about whatever her latest needs are. This young girl would be a great buddy to a young playful kitten or cat. Or she would be quite happy to be adopted with her foster brother, Prince Harry--an adorable orange and white Tabby kitten.   Prince Harry is offering the rare opportunity to cozy up to the crown. Harry was found outside alone, huddling under a car for warmth.  It became clear very quickly to his foster parent that Harry was no ordinary street cat. With his beautiful, fluffy white and orange markings and upper-class demeanor, it was clear to her that Harry was the heir to the throne. Fitness is important to the handsome Prince, so he likes to run laps around his circular scratching post and climb to the top of the tallest cat tree. When he tires of play, Harry likes to take long naps on the highest perch. At night, the Prince prefers to snuggle up to his foster mom, purring loudly, to demonstrate how satisfied he is with himself. Prince Harry loves company and would prefer to go to a home with another kitten or young cat to accompany him--particularly his foster sister Prairie. Gunner and his two brothers (Bohdi, buffcolored, and Toby, an orange tabby) were rescued from a terrible hoarding situation. They’re safe computer work? He’ll help catch the mouse. Unpacking groceries? He’ll get in the bag and set them out for you. Perez is the jack of all trades who is looking to be a part of your life. Violet is one of eight kitties rescued from terrible conditions under a bridge demolition site. She is young and small, but was a great mom to her kittens. Her babies found great homes and now it’s her turn! Violet is a beautiful and soft brown/black Tabby with a lovely face and matching  personality. She is estimated at just about a year old. She is still learning how to directly come to people for affection, but she loves to flirt, meow and follow you around and is so sweet and gentle when you pet her. Violet loves to be pet, but she has lingering moments of shyness…so she could do best solo, with other cats or maybe around very gentle dogs. She is very sweet with the other cats in her foster home. A home with small children may not be her first choice, as she might be wary of normal kid noise and play.  These three “nutty” kittens were brought to us from a high-kill shelter.  Pistachio, Hazelnut and Cashew all love to play with their siblings and would do best in homes with another kitten or younger cat who also likes to play. Pistachio is very energetic and lively. He needs someone ready for a high-energy boy who loves to climb and play and gets into anything laying around. Pistachio is also very friendly and sweet with people and can be a cuddly boy  in his quiet moments. Hazelnut loves to play, climb and cuddle. Friendly and ready for fun, she’s the perfect playmate. Cashew loves to play hard with her siblings. This extremely friendly girl kitten would also enjoy a home with another energetic cat. Come home to the beautiful Prairie.  She will be waiting at the door for you to throw a ball or run around with a feather toy or her favorite…the Go-Go Cat. She zips across the floor, she hops, she jumps, she climbs up her cat tree, catches her toy, carries it back down in her mouth and looks for a place to hide it.  Prairie will happily bounce into your lap, rub you several times, try and give you a bath, Pistachio Hazelnut Cashew and thriving now, all looking for forever homes. All three are very loving and playful. Since they are so young, if you don’t have a cat at home to be a friend, they must be adopted in a pair or with another kitty. They’re just babies and need a friend for playtime. The boys are staying at the PetSmart in Canoga Park. You can see them through the glass anytime, or come by to see them and other kittens and cats Saturdays from 12-3:30 p.m. These kitties are available for adoption through Kitten Rescue, one of the largest cat rescue groups in Southern California. All our kitties are spayed/neutered, microchipped, tested for FeLV and FIV, dewormed and current on their vaccinations.
