From there, Wiseburn came back with seven unanswered runs for a 10-3 bulge through four innings. Things are different, today. The level of talents in the high school sports are more extreme with top athletes choosing certain high schools, instead of staying with local ones. As a result, the Southern Section Committee is going by the individual school talent, instead of the leagues. Over the past two seasons, the Bay, Ocean and Pioneer Leagues played in the Western Division, which was classified as Division VII. One local school moving up from Division VII to Division VI will be Lawndale, which would have won the Ocean League last season but had to forfeit four wins, including two in league, due to use of an ineligible player. The Cardinals will play in that division with the likes of Manhattan Beach, Mira Costa and Pioneer League power West Torrance. Inglewood and Morningside go down to Division IX. Leuzinger and Inglewood will vie in Division X. Hawthorne, which struggled over the past several seasons, goes to Division XII. There are still a total of 13 divisions in the Southern Section 11-man football with Division I, formerly the PAC Five, being the most highly prestigious division. One of the teams in that division will be Serra High of Gardena, which was eliminated by Santa Ana Mater Dei in the quarterfinals last season.
