TORRANCE TRIBUNE May 11, 2017 Page 5 Purrrfect Companions Phoenix Pets can get loose or lost through mishaps and travel quickly. Microchip: it works! Purdy George This week’s kitties (and many others on our website) are all deserving of a home with a family to call their own. Are you unable to adopt, but would love to have a kitty in your home? Consider fostering. Children who assist with foster care learn to help an animal and feel like they have accomplished something. They learn that because of someone’s irresponsibility, this pet is homeless and they can be a solution to the problem and give back to their community. When foster families and individuals let these animals go to their new homes, they have the joy of knowing they have helped give an abandoned pet a second chance in life. With “kitten season” in full bloom, there is an urgent need for foster parents. Whether you care for one or many, once or frequently, Kitten Rescue would love for you to become a foster parent. They offer training, guidance, medical care (if needed) and lots of moral support. Fostering brings you the rich reward of knowing you personally saved this kitty’s life in providing a safe, loving home while waiting for adoption. Interested? Please email them at foster@kittenrescue.org for more information. Purdy is a very sweet little girl who loves to cuddle and snuggle with other kitties. She loves to suckle on the other cats! Purdy wants to glue herself to the side of any kitty who will let her, making her the purrfect companion cat for a lonely kitty in need of a hip attachment. She follows the resident cats around in her foster home, always rubbing against them and staying right with them. She loves to romp and play. Because she is so young, she’s still very energetic and silly. Purdy will carry toys around in her mouth and cry over them. She has even run on the FastCat Cat Wheel all on her own! Purdy needs a calm, quiet household with someone who understands cats and needs a kitten to be their cat’s best friend. She cuddly, affectionate goofball with just a hint of cerebellar hypoplasia (his reward for surviving panleukopenia)--not enough to cause any real impairment, but enough so that he has a slight head bobble and is pretty clumsy in a very endearing way. It certainly doesn’t slow him down, as he gets the zooms just like any other kitty his age. Ragnar has been brought up in a home with several cats and kittens as well as dogs. He’s more a fan of his feline compadres and would be a great companion for anyone who likes to cuddle and play. He’ll let you pick him up and carry him around like a baby, and bring a smile to your face with his sweet and clumsy shenanigans. Phoenix is a handsome, shorthair orange and white tabby who was rescued in Istanbul, Turkey. He also has a wonderful personality. “What? Looks and personality?!” Trust him- -it is possible! Phoenix is playful, loving, affectionate, easygoing and super sweet. He loves being petted and purrs loudly when you pet him. Phoenix loves giving you hugs and kisses and taking naps on your lap. He also enjoys grooming and snuggling with his kitty friends. Good with both boy and girl kitties, he has a lot of fun playing with his friends and toys. Shakespeare is a snuggle machine and will purr you up a sonnet! He is a big guy, but his bashful gaze is nothing short of heartcannot be a single cat, as she adores other cats so much, and would do best with a very outgoing, confident, people-loving playmate. She sleeps on the bed and loves to hang out with you on the couch when not glued to another kitty. The rest of the time, she is busy exploring the house and playing with the other cats. Flora appeared in a back garden, skinny and desperate for love. She was fed there for two weeks and gained weight. She then went to her foster’s house to become an inside-only kitty. She’s now normal weight, loves affection and has adjusted to being inside (she did nothing but sleep and eat at first). Flora loves to play with toys and is respectful of her foster sister senior cat. Her beautiful, captivating eyes appear as if she has eyeliner around them. This affectionate girl would be fine as the only cat in your home--or with care, she would adjust to another feline companion. George was found abandoned with his siblings and brought to a shelter when they were just days old. He was bottle-fed around the clock, traveling back and forth to work with his foster mom every day for five weeks to be fed every few hours. Being hand-raised, George is wonderfully outgoing, affectionate and cuddly! In his first foster home, he was raised with three kitty-lovin’ dogs, other adult kitties, and a young child (of the two-legged variety)--all of whom George absolutely adored. In his second foster home, he bonded quickly with his new foster mama and foster kitten siblings, and is accustomed to new adult cats and small dogs. If you’re looking for a teenage kitten that will play, play, play and then fall asleep in your lap and snuggle next to you all night long, George is your guy! He’s exceptionally intelligent and curious, and quite talkative. Ragnar is pure joy. It must be good to be Ragnar because everything is just so much fun for him. He is a super sweet, Flora melting. He loves to be held, hugged and to have his little face rubbed. He can be a little mischievous, likes playing with water, and requires lots of attention and entertainment. Shakespeare is talkative, friendly and gentle. He would be great partnered with a relentless kitty friend that needs mellowing, or a big cat family. This gentle boy comes with a sensitive stomach and requires a strict raw food diet.
