EL SEGUNDO HERALD March 21, 2019 Page 13
Eagles from page 4
The first game against Beverly Hills was
closer than the Eagles might have expected.
The Eagles scored three first inning runs and
went on to win 6-0. El Segundo was limited to
just five hits, but took advantage of six walks.
Ethan Burner led the Eagles with two hits,
including a double/ Je scored three times and
racked up five stolen bases. Aiden McRoberts
tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out eight
while walking one. He is now 2-1 on the year
and lowered his ERA to 1.47.
In the second game, the bats came alive and
El Segundo had its most productive run and
hit outputs of the season. The Eagles used
this stat game to up batting averages while
gaining confidence at the plate. With Eagle
ace Quin Kirsten on the mound, it seemed a
lock for El Segundo to toss another shutout.
The Normans would have other thoughts and
when Donovan Chavez smacked a two-run
double in the first inning, it would help
spark El Segundo’s bats. It was the first
time this season that Kirsten had given up
two runs in the same game and they came
in the first inning.
El Segundo responded with a seven-run
second inning. The Eagles combined four
hits, a hit batter, an error and a sacrifice fly
to enjoy their biggest inning of the season.
Matt Romero’s two-run home run highlighted
the rally. In the fourth inning, the Eagles had
four hits and were helped by a Norman error
to score four more runs. Cooper Sutherland’s
two-run single made it 11-2. In the sixth inning,
David Brady’s two-run single scored
Brendan McAndrews and Ethan Burner to
end the game on a mercy-rule 13-2 win.
In the first round of the Redondo Tournament,
El Segundo faced the Hart Indians.
The Indians have a proud and distinguished
program and had defeated El Segundo the
past three consecutive times they’ve faced
each other. This time it would be different,
as the Eagles pounded out 15 hits and went
on to a 12-2 win.
Cameron Dornblaser started for the Eagles
and after a shaky first inning in which he gave
up two runs on 27 pitches, he settled down.
Dornblaser blanked the Indians through the
fifth inning when he gave way to Burner.
Benny Casillas led the Eagles with three
hits including an RBI single in the first inning,
sparking a five-run rally in the second
inning with a two-run double and scoring
after he doubled in the sixth inning.
The Eagles had a great day at the plate.
They banged out six doubles, drew four
walks and had four sacrifices. Their bats were
expected to stay hot against Hawthorne this
past Tuesday and also today when they host
the Cougars at 3:15 p.m. They will be tested
against South Torrance on Saturday at home
at 11 a.m. when they face the Spartans in the
second round of the Redondo Tournament. •
Shanai Owens scores the go-ahead run in the eighth inning in the Eagles’ 10-9 win over Palos Verdes. From left, Ben Peterson, Kailea Lee and Dylan Aubert were selected and played in the 29th Annual South Bay All Star Game.
Katie Croxall laces one to left field against Palos Verdes.

TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are
considering bidding on this property
lien, you should understand that there
are risks involved in bidding at a trustee
auction. You will be bidding on a lien,
not on the property itself. Placing the
highest bid at a trustee auction does
not automatically entitle you to free and
clear ownership of the property. You
should also be aware that the lien being
auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you
are the highest bidder at the auction, you
are or may be responsible for paying off
all liens senior to the lien being auctioned
off, before you can receive clear title to
the property. You are encouraged to
investigate the existence, priority, and
size of outstanding liens that may exist
on this property by contacting the county
recorder’s office or a title insurance
company, either of which may charge you
a fee for this information. If you consult
