doubt it’s because we had sarcoptic mange and
they didn’t want to treat it. It’s the only reason
I can think of that would result in someone
turning in a 1-year-old, 15-pound, sweet,
little male Miniature Schnauzer mix. Treating
sarcoptic mange is very time-consuming and
the shelter made it perfectly clear that because
this condition is highly contagious, I was not
welcome there. Thankfully it was MSFR to
the rescue and I’m so glad they took me in.
Treatment required a several weeks stay at the
veterinarian’s because I had to be in isolation
while receiving my Ivermectin treatments. I’ve
had my last treatment, I’m looking great and I’m
ready to find a family that will want me and all
the love I have to give. Honestly, if you were
to see me now, you’d never believe I was the
semi-bald, patchy-haired dog that was rescued.
Even though I’m a mix, I have inherited all
of the ‘Schnauzery’ good looks – especially
my natural ears and natural tail. Since I’m not
very big, I am easily transportable and ready
to go anywhere. I admit that I do need a bit
of training because I didn’t even know what
a leash was until I was rescued. I am really
sweet and eager to please, so training should
be a great bonding time for us.”

“Hola! Mi nombre es Estella. Oops, sorry
about that… I meant to say my name is Estella.
I forgot that I’m no longer in Tijuana and that
I’m now residing in a Southern California
foster home. You see, another rescue group
scooped me up off the streets of Tijuana and
turned me over to the MSFR volunteers. There
was never a thought about my changing my
name, which is ‘star’ in Spanish. However,
determining my breed was another story. I have

“Hi there, my name is Davis! My previous
owners dumped my brother Dobbs and me
at an LA area shelter and we’re guessing it’s
because we had sarcoptic mange and they
didn’t want to deal with it. I can’t think of
any other reason why they would relinquish
a 1-year-old male Miniature Schnauzer mix.
Treating sarcoptic mange is no easy task
and the shelter made it perfectly clear that

a longer, sleek body, Schnauzer coloring and
Schnauzer fur. That means I’m a non-shedder.
Best guess, without a DNA test, is that I’m
a Schnauzer/Lhasa/Cocker mix. I’ve had a
pretty exciting life for 1.5-year-old gal, but
I’m ready to settle down and find my forever
family. I’m super friendly and full of energy,
so one of my favorite pastimes is playing
with other dogs. If you already have a dog,
not to worry… I will be the perfect playmate.
I have a beautiful, shiny coat and in keeping
with the Schnauzer traits, the most beautiful,
expressive dark eyes and an adorable face. I’m
20 pounds of love and affection just waiting
to give it to the right family.”

I had to exit the place immediately since
this condition is highly contagious. Tada! --
MSFR to the rescue and I’m so very grateful
to them. It was a pretty lengthy process of
isolation and treatments at their veterinarian’s
office for several weeks. Now that I’ve had
my last treatment, I’m ready to find my
forever home. It’s amazing what TLC and
medication can do! I don’t even come close to
resembling the bald, patchy-haired guy that was
rescued. Now everyone can see that I’m quite
good-looking with my natural ears, my natural
tail and the great ‘Schnauzery’ handsomeness.
In addition to my adorable appearance, I am
extremely sweet and eager to please -- but I
need some training, as I had never seen a leash

and affection and would be a great addition
to your family.”
