Huber’s Hiccups
News for the City of Good
Neighbors from an Old Guy
named Norb Huber
Where do we go?
Do you feel lost and confused?
If my 32 loyal readers are a representation
of our fellow countrymen
and women, then half of you are
elated, excited, feeling down right
giddy about the next four years,
the other half of you are disappointed,
disillusioned, bewildered, upset, and feeling
helpless. There doesn’t seem to be any
common ground to unite us as one country
under God. Where do we find peace? Where
can we go to find calm and contentment?
Maybe we are looking in all the wrong
places. Some of us just want to run away
and hide, as in move to Tennessee. Amid
all of this disarray, this chaos, this disunity,
this uncertainty we read in John 14:6 Jesus
said to him, “I am the way, and the truth,
and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through me.” If ever we needed to
be shown the way, if ever we needed to hear
the truth, and if ever we needed real life, it
is now. Regardless of what side we are on
politically, we can find solid footing for this
life in Jesus. What a relief and comfort it is
when we read of God’s promises in God’s
Word. This world’s troubles are only temporal.
Political fighting will always be
with us. God’s Word reminds us
that we are like sheep who have
gone astray, but the Good Shepherd
searches for us, finds us, loves us,
forgives us, and returns us to His
fold. When we view the world from
this perspective, it sure looks a lot
better. Why would we not want to
share our joy and contentment with
others who need to hear this simple
message? Instead of worry and anxiety, we
can press on in faith. It’s going to be okay.
We’re going to be okay. Why do I tell you
to relax and have a cold one every week?
Why do I tell you that God loves you more
than you know? I don’t want you just to
forget the world and be a drunk. I’m not a
religious fanatic forcing my religion on you.
You can drink pink lemonade, for all I care.
I ramble on hoping that I can share just a
little bit of what God has given to me. Do I
worry, sure. Do I get upset, a lot of times.
But through it all, I hear the Good Shepherd
calling me to follow Him, he knows the way.
Sheep are not too smart, they can be
stubborn, that’s why it takes a shepherd to
keep them safe. I ain’t too intelligent, and
according to my ol’ lady I’m a stubborn
fool, but I feel so safe knowing who leads
me. Be safe my friends, be safe.
