Senior Grocery Pick Up Program
A trip to the grocery store is becoming increasingly
challenging, especially for senior citizens.
Therefore, the Hawthorne Recreation and
Community Services Department have taken the
extra step by creating a COVID-19 senior
outreach program. This program offers to pick
up online shopping orders of up to 20 items
which can include basic foods, household goods,
and essential hygiene items from Target and
Ralphs. Pickups will be done on Wednesdays
and Thursdays from 9am to 1pm and items will
be delivered to the designated resident. To meet
the requirements you must be a minimum 55
years of age, must be a Hawthorne resident,
and you must either register online at www.
cityofhawthorne.org or over the phone at 310-
349-1640. Application must be submitted at
least 48 hours in advance. For more information
about the program, sign-ups, shopping requests,
volunteers, questions or inquiries, please
call 310-349-1640 during the office hours
of Monday-Thursday from 8am to 12pm or
email parksrec@cityofhawthorne.org. Please
help spread the word! Remember that we are
all in this together. •
