Gun Possession Arrests
on Vista del Mar
On March 11 at approximately 11:30 p.m.,
an El Segundo Police Department (ESPD)
officer stopped a tan Nissan Altima in
the 600 block of Vista del Mar. The driver,
Daniel Michael Duran, 31, was ultimately
arrested for not having a driver’s license
and providing false identification to a police
officer. The passenger, 33-year-old Catherine
Darlene Ramirez, was found to be in possession
of a loaded firearm (Ruger LC-380)
with the serial number scratched off. She
was arrested for suspicion of various gun
violations. After interviewing both suspects,
it is believed Duran was also in possession
of a handgun.
On March 14, the Los Angeles County
District Attorney’s Office filed gun possession
charges on both suspects. If you have
any information regarding this crime, please
contact Sgt. Aaron Corkins at 310-524-2217,
or email at acorkins@elsegundo.org

Kiwanis Good Citizen Award:
Heather Martinez
Heather Martinez was in a Manhattan Beach
parking lot when she observed an unknown
male aggressively approach females who
were loading groceries into their vehicles.
Martinez called the Manhattan Beach Police
Department to report what she had witnessed.
The following weekend, Martinez learned
the El Segundo Police Department (ESPD)
looking for a subject who resembled the man
she had previously seen in the parking lot.
The man was wanted for sexually assaulting
females in El Segundo. A week later,
Martinez was again in the same Manhattan
Beach parking lot when she observed the
same male. Martinez notified her husband,
an ESPD sergeant, that she was currently
watching this individual. Martinez’s husband
sent her a photo of the suspect wanted in
El Segundo to verify it was the same person.
Once confirmed, Martinez assisted in directing
officers to the suspect. Heather Martinez’s
quick action led to the arrest of the suspect
for several sexual batteries.
