EL SEGUNDO PTA RUN FOR EDUCATION STREET CLOSURE
Saturday, April 21 from 6:30 - 10:30 a.m.
El Segundo PTA Run for Education streets along the racecourse will
be closed on Saturday, April 21, from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. The race
course will start and finish in front of El Segundo High School on
Main Street, continuing east on Pine Avenue, south on Center Street,
east on Grand Avenue, north on Kansas Street, west on Mariposa
Street, north on Center Street, west on Walnut Avenue, south on
Maryland Street, west on Maple Street, and South on Main Street to
the finish line on Main Street. There will be four Police-monitored
control points to cross the racecourse during the event at the following
intersections: Maple Ave and Sheldon St; Maple Ave and Center St;
Holly Ave and Kansas St; and Pine Ave and Eucalyptus Dr.

Jane Self passed away peacefully
on February 21st at the age
of 96. Jane was a 1939 graduate
of El Segundo High School. She
later married her husband, Donald
Self. Together, they built their
home in El Segundo and raised
their 3 daughters. Jane worked for
The Aerospace Corporation for 30
years as an Executive Secretary.
She was preceded in death by her
husband Don. She is survived by
her daughters, Linda Waller of McKinney, TX.
Sharon Thompson and husband
Jerry of El Segundo, and Kathy
Self of El Segundo. Her four
grandchildren, Jennifer Ramsey
and husband Mike of McKinney,
TX. Chad Waller and wife
Laresa of McKinney, TX. Emily
Bowman and husband Adam of
El Segundo, and Dylan Self of
Torrance. She is also survived
by her six great-grandchildren,
who lovingly referred to her as
“Double Grandma”. She is missed dearly.

The El Segundo Council of Parent Teacher
Associations (PTA) is proud to announce the
27th Annual Run for Education 5K/10K and
Kids’ Fun Run, which will take place on
Saturday, April 21. The 5K/10K begins at
8 a.m. in front of El Segundo High School.
The award ceremony for the 5K/10K will
take place at 9 a.m. at Library Park. The
1/2K Kids Fun Run will begin at 10 a.m.
followed by the 1K Kids Fun Run at 10:15
a.m. By popular demand, we the Run will
also feature 5K/10K Four-Person Team
Competitions. New this year is the Starting
Line Corrals categorized by Elite Runners,
General Runners, General Walkers and
Walkers with Strollers to provide participants
a safe start. All registered participants will
receive race t-shirts and finishers medals with
overall winners plus first, second and third
place finishers in all men’s and women’s
age groups receiving placement medals.
Both 5K/10K courses are USATF-certified
featuring electronic chip timing.
Big 5 Sporting Goods is the Run’s
title sponsor for its third year. Participating
sponsors will have booths at the Health &
Fitness Expo located at Library Park from
8 a.m. to 11 a.m. El Segundo’s PTA Run is

Lorraine Anderson
Lorraine Anderson (née Boget),
of West St. Paul, MN, long
time resident of El Segundo,
CA., passed away peacefully on
April 8th at the age of 92. Lorraine
was born to parents Victor
and Florence Boget on January
30, 1926 in St. Paul, MN. She
graduated from Mechanic Arts
High School. In 1948, she married
Lloyd Anderson, also of St.
Paul. In the late 40’s Lorraine and
Lloyd packed up and moved to Los Angeles.
Lorraine worked in several businesses as a
secretary until her retirement.
Lorraine’s husband Lloyd,
died in 1988. Lorraine stayed
in El Segundo until 2012, when
she moved back to Minnesota
to be near the rest of her family.
Lorraine is survived by her
sister Camille and many loving
nieces and nephews. Lorraine
will be cremated and interned at
Fort Snelling National Cemetery
beside her husband. Condolences
can be sent to Lorraine’s family at 1458 Hilo
Ave No. Oakdale, MN. 55128. •
